Our second day of dinosaur activities started out by making salt dough to create our own dinosaur and bone figurines.

Then, we went out to the sidewalk and talked about how big different dinosaurs were. First up was Brachiosaurus. I gave them each a bit of chalk, told them I was standing at the tip of the tail, and asked them to go mark where they thought the tip of it’s nose would be. Off they ran down the sidewalk - of course, Brachiosaurus being 100 feet long, they all underestimated rather severely! We had a 10-foot measuring tape, and B7 proved rather quick at the division needed to know how many times we needed to measure ten feet (for all the different dinos!). Once we measured it out, we drew a long line, and wrote the measurement at the end. Then, we returned to the starting point, and used the other side of the sidewalk to repeat our exercise with T-rex, Ankylosaurus, Dinonychus, and Triceratops. It was cool to see how many of them we had to line up tip-to-tail to even come close to reaching the same length as Brachiosaurus!

When we returned to the backyard, we made a volcano eruption using hydrogen peroxide, dish soap, and yeast. I was too busy watching it erupt to take a pitcure, though!

For our final activity of the day, we used different shapes of dry pasta to make our own dinosaur skeletons. It was lots of fun!
